Thanks to the U.S. wireless industry’s relentless competition and innovation, there are numerous devices and services available for consumers.
As you customize your mobile device(s) and service plan(s) to meet your unique needs, you may wonder if you’re asking the right questions. Prepaid or postpaid? Feature phone or smartphone? International, national or regional calling plans? Unlimited or shared voice, texting and data plans?
That’s why CTIA and its member companies created the “Consumer Code for Wireless Service.” This voluntary guideline covers almost 97 percent of U.S. wireless subscribers to help consumers make informed choices when selecting and managing their wireless services. Prepaid and postpaid users are covered by the 11 points, which include disclosing rates and fees, providing coverage maps, readily available customer service and usage alerts before overage charges are incurred.
In addition, we developed these guides to help you compare your options.
If you selected a postpaid plan, here’s a sample monthly wireless bill so you know what to expect.
For individuals with disabilities, AccessWireless.org is the comprehensive website to help you find the best wireless device and service for your needs.
Don’t forget to recycle your “old” devices and accessories!
